Stop Watching Us

Stop Watching Us! Note: We are LOSING the Battle, People!

Right now the NSA is spying on everyone’s personal communications, and they’re operating without any meaningful oversight! Since the Snowden leaks started, more than 571,000 people from all walks of life have signed the petition telling the U.S. Congress that we want them to rein in the NSA!

On October 26th, 2013, the 12th anniversary of the signing of the US Patriot Act, we’re taking the next step and holding the largest rally yet against NSA surveillance. We’ll be handing the half-million petitions to Congress to remind them that they work for us — and we won’t tolerate mass surveillance any longer!!

The recent Snowden NSA revelations and News have laid it all out:
The NSA is STILL watching us online, reading our email, and tapping our phones.
The NSA corrupted security/cryptography, undermining the fabric of the Internet.
The NSA overreaching surveillance, illegal bugging of Americans, illegal bugging of most other Countries, has created a climate of fear, violates our free speech, rapes our basic human rights, and operates without any meaningful oversight.

The NSA has illegaly exceeded it’s orders and mandate.
The NSA has itself become, a Criminal Organization.

But a movement is building to change all this. And we’re about to take the next step.
On Saturday, October 26, the 12th anniversary of the signing of the US PATRIOT Act,
thousands of people will unite in Washington, D.C. to proclaim:
Enough is enough. Stop watching us, NSA!

StopWatching.Us is a diverse coalition including more than 100 public advocacy organizations and companies from across ideological lines, including the ACLU, Access, Demand Progress, Electronic Frontier Foundation, FreedomWorks, Fight for the Future, Free Press, Mozilla, reddit, Restore the Fourth and Thoughtworks. This coalition is working to organize the biggest mass protest of the NSA’s surveillance programs to date.
Will you join us?

Hundreds of thousands of people have spoken out since the major NSA leaks began this June. More than 560,000 people took action at StopWatching.Us by signing our petition to the U.S. Congress. Dozens of members of Congress have introduced bills aimed at reining in the NSA, and hundreds of organizations and companies are uniting to end the NSA’s unconstitutional surveillance.

But we will only succeed if we take the next step

But we will only succeed if we take the next step and raise our voices.

At the StopWatching.Us rally on October 26, 2013, we’ll remind our elected officials that they work for us, not the NSA. We are demanding a full Congressional investigation of America’s surveillance programs, reform to federal surveillance law, and accountability from public officials responsible for hiding this surveillance from lawmakers and the public. And we will personally deliver the half million petition signatures to Congress.

This will be the biggest rally for privacy the U.S. has ever seen.
Will you be there?

The Heroine of Today’s Protest, Rainey Reitman.

Rainey Reitman is the activism director for the Electronic Frontier Foundation and lead organizer for the Stop Watching Us rally.
Thanks to everyone who Planned, Participated, and Protested!!!
Thanks to YOU, and to all the financial supporters, the WORLD Heard US!
Speakers included former NSA executive and whistleblower Thomas Drake, Bruce Schneier, former Rep. Dennis Kucinich, Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.), actors Maggie Gyllenhaal, John Cusack, and Wil Wheaton; director Oliver Stone; and Pentagon Papers leaker Daniel Ellsberg; among others (special cameo appearances by Richard Nixon and J. Edgar Hoover). Edward Snowden also released a statement on urging people to attend the rally, saying, “Now it’s time for the government to learn from us.”

Musicians like the indie-pop group Yacht, also appeared, in support.

A Petition with over 570,000 signatures, was delivered to Congress,
demanding the NSA and Obuma Government

Rainey Reitman stated:
We ask for three things in particular. First, we are asking for a congressional investigation so we can shed light on exactly what the National Security Agency is doing. Secondly, we ask for reform of federal surveillance law, specifically Section 215 of the Patriot Act, section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, and the state secrets privilege. The third thing we ask for is that the public officials who are responsible for hiding this be held accountable for their actions.
So, it’s kind of a weighted petition. It’s not just a general “we stand against the NSA surveillance,” it’s asking for very specific things and very specific reforms.

The Obuma Government was strangely silent and well behaved about this Protest. Given the past week of Country after Country accusing Obuma/NSA of worse and worse spying/hacking/espionage/recording, the citizens of the USA should be demanding Obuma resign in disgrace and the NSA be dismantled!!!
Because of the World’s outcry against Obuma, NSA,
the Protest was the “icing on the cake”, thrown in Obuma’s Face.

What’s Next?!
Continue to Step Up the Pressure! Continue the Protests.
Continue Fighting until the GOAL is achieved!!!
Expand the Ranks! Double the Guard!! Talk to Everyone!!!

To be continued!

Videos of MASS RALLY, Washington, DC, against Obuma/nsa spying!!!

Edward Snowden:
In the last four months, we’ve learned a lot about our government. We’ve learned that the U.S. intelligence community secretly built a system of pervasive surveillance. Today, no telephone in America makes a call without leaving a record with the NSA. Today, no Internet transaction enters or leaves America without passing through the NSA’s hands. Our representatives in Congress tell us this is not surveillance. They’re wrong. Now it’s time for the government to learn from us. On Saturday, the ACLU, EFF, and the rest of the StopWatching.Us coalition are going to DC. Join us in sending the message: Stop Watching Us.
